Archerfish

Archerfish can shoot water out of their mouths with force and accuracy. They live in Asia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Australia. They can live in fresh or slightly salty water, under the roots of mangrove trees. They can be as long as 16 inches. Most are 6 inches.

Archerfish shoot at insects and spiders that are over the water. The bug falls into the water, where the fish rushes over and gobbles it up!

Archerfish belong to the family "Toxotidae." The scintific name for the best known species is
"Toxotes jaculatrix."
